American Hornbeam (Carpinus)

This deciduous, hardwood, mid-size shade tree is hardy and carefree. It displays handsome, dark green leaves in the summer that turn a vareigated orange in fall, and the blue-grey bark is gorgeous all year long, particularly contrasted against fresh snow.
