Peony – Karl Rosenfield
Remarkably long-lived, peonies are beloved for their abundance of exquisite, large, fragrant flowers, but they also provide interest with attractive, deeply lobed foliage that changes colour over the course of the season, emerging red early in the spring, changing to green and often deepening to a rich mahogany in the fall. A modern breakthrough in hybridizing, ITOH types blend the best traits of herbaceous and tree peonies and never need staking. Flower petals are edible.
